Meet Our Musical Director: Renée Porzel
Renée Porzel brings a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership to the Melodeers Chorus as our Music Director. With a deep-rooted history in Sweet Adelines International, Renée has played a pivotal role in shaping the Melodeers’ legacy of excellence.
Before stepping into her role as Music Director, Renée served as the Melodeers' Showmanship Coordinator and Associate Director, where she led creative direction, developed innovative music initiatives, and collaborated with the music staff to enhance the chorus’s signature sound.
A highly respected educator and coach, Renée is a Certified Director in the Sweet Adelines International Director Certification Program, a member of the Sweet Adelines International Faculty Program, and a Certified Visual Communication Judge. She served on the Sweet Adelines International Board of Directors for several years, including her tenure as International President from 2012 to 2014. Renée travels the world coaching choruses and quartets, specializing in both vocal and visual performance, helping singers achieve their artistic and competitive goals.
When she’s not immersed in the world of barbershop harmony, Renée enjoys life in Buffalo Grove, IL, with her husband Bob. They are proud parents to Aaron and Ethan and doting grandparents to three wonderful granddaughters.
